In-Home ABA Therapy for New Mexico Families

Your child's best learning happens where they already feel safe — at home. Luminaria delivers one-on-one, BCBA-supervised ABA therapy right in your living room, on your schedule. No clinics, no commutes, no disrupting your family's day.

What Is In-Home ABA Therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the gold standard for autism therapy — backed by decades of research and recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. It works by breaking skills down into teachable steps, using positive reinforcement to build communication, social skills, daily living routines, and behavior management.

In-home ABA means all of this happens in your child's natural environment. Instead of learning to brush teeth in a clinic and hoping it transfers home, your child practices brushing teeth in their own bathroom, with their own toothbrush, at the time they actually do it. Skills stick because they're learned where they'll be used.

Your child works one-on-one with a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who designs and oversees their individualized treatment plan. Every session is play-based, data-driven, and built around what your child needs — not a generic curriculum.

Who Benefits from In-Home ABA?

  • Children ages 18 months to 21 years with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) diagnosis
  • Toddlers showing early signs who may benefit from early intervention before a formal diagnosis
  • School-age children who need support with social skills, behavior, or academic readiness
  • Families in rural or spread-out areas where clinic access is limited — especially common in New Mexico
  • Children who do better in familiar settings and may feel overwhelmed in clinical environments

What to Expect from Sessions

Sessions happen in your home, on your family's schedule — mornings before school, afternoons, evenings, or weekends. A typical session runs 2-4 hours, and your child's BCBA will recommend the right frequency based on their needs.

During sessions, your child's therapist will work on goals like:

  • Communication — expressing needs, requesting, conversing
  • Social skills — turn-taking, sharing, reading social cues, making friends
  • Daily living skills — getting dressed, mealtime routines, hygiene, following directions
  • Behavior support — replacing challenging behaviors with functional alternatives
  • School readiness — sitting in a chair, following group instructions, transitioning between activities
  • Play skills — imaginative play, engaging with peers, exploring new activities

Parents and caregivers are welcome to observe, ask questions, and learn strategies they can use throughout the day. We're not just here for your child — we're here for your whole family.
